It is now the final days of 2013. The new year is just around the corner. So before we start something new, let us look back on the past year and see what has happened. I started the year out helping someone at church. They needed help with their job and I was available. For my time I was given $50 a day and use of their spare van. It was wonderful, got to travel all over southeast Michigan delivering goods. The hours were long sometime going 12 hours in a day. In February that all ended. In March I took a train trip to Chicago for the week. It was nice to see some college friends, return some equipment I borrowed for the world race and meet up with a couple world racers. It was also nice to visit the church at Community Edgewater.
April and May followed with calmness. There was not much going on at this time in my life. However, the end of May brought my first fundraiser of the summer. That turned into running fundraisers every weekend from Memorial Day Weekend to the middle of July. It was a lot of hard work there, getting to meet new people and being blessed with being able to sell bracelets for Threads of Hope. July came through quickly, we saw a freak storm that lasted only minutes came in with no warning at all and up rooted a bunch of trees. One of those trees in my neighbors backyard along the creek was one of the trees to fall over, unfortunately it had landed on a girl's ankle. She was eventually set free and taken to the hospital. The following week we had the bologna festival in town. August brought another crazy month. It started with me house sitting for a friend while they went up north, from there I was involved in helping the church with a Kids Adventure weekend. I later was taken to a free Kelli Pickler concert. After celebrating my birthday, I was given a chance to go camping, biking 23 miles to get to the meeting spot. The fall brought a new challenge. I was asked to help watch kids several nights a week and help keep the house clean. I essentially lived in their living room as I took care of the kids, house work, and helped with homework. That season quickly came to an end in the middle of November. The rest of the year has been with family. Being able to spend both Thanksgiving and Christmas at home has been amazing. My family has needed me at this time. This had also given me time to relax and start preparing for what God has next in my life. Looking forward to 2014 and all that God has for it.
