A Weekend Away

Last weekend (Aug. 23-25) I was able to get away from it all. I didn't expect it and certainly didn't plan it. It was Friday morning, I was barely awake in my bed when my sister decided to text me and invite me to go camping this weekend. I've never done real camping before. The most time I've spent in my tent was on the world race using it as a home here and there, Not really camping I would say. I was excited however, there was something in my way. It was 23 miles of road and no way of getting there. So, I did what I knew to do. Set out on my bike. Lets just say after 23 miles of biking I was sore, tired, had knots in my legs, and my bike was broken.
Now, after packing the van and gathering everyone that was going camping we finally got to our site. We didn't have much time to set up, and cook before sundown so we just ate sandwiches. We had no access to internet so i was disconnected for the weekend. We all settled into our own tents little tents, and I mean little kid size tents, for the night. It was chilly and there was dew outside and inside the tents. So sleeping in a tent a little small for me to begin with was that much harder without getting dripped on all night.

I got up at 6 am in the morning after a hard night of sleep. It was perfect, I was able to go to the rivers edge look at Canada and watch the sunrise. The colors of the rising sun was just so beautiful. I took many photos of the sunrise, my breath was taken away. After the sun rise I had a little bit of time to spend with God before everyone woke up. It was a rather uneventful day with cooking and swimming, followed by a late night by the fire and a very early morning. Nothing like getting up at 3 am. I sat there just looking around. Soaking in what was going on. Looking up at the stars and just being amazed at what God had created.

I enjoyed my couple nights of camping. It made for a wonderful weekend. I did not get a lot of sleep, but I got to spend time in my God's creation. I got to sit in silence and just marvel at the beauty of nature. It was something I needed. As you sit out their and look around at everything you see how much detail God puts into creation. Then you wonder how much more does God looks at the details of our lives, His children? God cares a lot about us and where we are. There is a reason for what's going on right now. God has a plan and a purpose for everything. Sometimes we just need to be silent and let God do what He needs to do in our lives.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD,
And He delights in his way
Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down;
For the LORD upholds him with His hand.
(Psalms 37: 23-24)
