Abundance

So recently I have had some time to read some books. Because of the start of the school year I get about 4 hours of silent time each day. It is perfect time to spend time with my God in the word, prayer, and worship. One of the books I have read this past week is by Bruce Wilkinson. I have read many of his books like, "The Dream Giver" and "The Prayer of Jabez." So when I saw another book at church from him I knew I had to pick it up.

This book it called "Secrets of The Vine, Breaking Through to Abundance." How wonderful, I know we are to live in the abundance of God however, my thinking sometimes looks at the lack. I figured lets read and see what happens. In those pages of that book did I learn something. Something amazing, that helps me understand more of what God is doing in my life.
If you haven't read John 15:1-17 take some time to read it. In this passage it talks about the vine and the branches and bearing fruit. For the branches that are on the ground, not creating fruit, trampled and covered in dirt, God cleans and mends them and finds a way to lift them up. For those that have fruit, God prunes so that they could have more fruit. The Bible says it and I have learned from my travels thats how you garden, so that you get more yield next year. Thats exactly what God wants from us, to have more fruit, to bring Him more Glory so that the world will know who He is.

As I read the book and this passage from the Bible I could see where I was in the process. I was in the pruning stage. Yeah talk about ouch, I can just see God slowly cutting at things in my life. My reaction is to pull back, but God waits patiently for me to agree to let Him do the work in my life. God only wants to get rid of the areas in my life that will hinder me and keep me from having much fruit in the life I have been given. God wants me to have a large harvest, to not fail. God has placed a calling on my life and He has a plan and purpose for everything He is doing.

God has so many blessings and plans for us as His children. What we need to do is surrender to His will and allow God to do the work in our lives that is needed. Removing, parts that do not belong or mending things that are broken. Also as John 15 states we need to abide in Christ and He will abide in us. Much like branches can not get what they need with the vine and its roots, if we are not in Christ then we have no way of getting what is needed to produce fruit and advance the kingdom of God.

In my life, I want God to do His work in me. God, prune the areas in my life that need to be pruned. I want to spend more time with you each and every day. I want to do you will and do so abundantly. Bless me God and enlarge my territory. I want to have much fruit in my life and advance your Kingdom all for your glory and honor. Amen.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD,
And He delights in his way
Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down;
For the LORD upholds him with His hand.
(Psalms 37: 23-24)
