Okay, how many of you have those friends that just talk and talk and talk and when you say something you get a phrase out and then they talk some more? Okay, I can not see your hands but I think we all have someone like that. To be honest I have been on both sides of this in the last few months. I have been the one to just talk and talk and talk. Then again, I also found myself in the place of having someone just talk about themselves and just go on and on and on. It is annoying at times. You need to say something but the other person just will not be silent. But, don't we treat God the same way? Yikes, is this true? We go to God in prayer. We ask for direction, we pray for wisdom, sometimes we pray about how frustrated we are in life, and we keep praying and praying and praying. Then at the end we say amen and walk away to continue our day. Is this right?
God desires a relationship with us and God wants to answer us. But, how can we hear God if we are not silent? Remember, God spoke to Elijah in the still small voice. We need to take time and listen to what the Holy Spirit is telling us. Allow God to speak into the lives we have been given, allow him to answer and give direction. I want to ask you to take some time and sit in silence and listen to what God is saying to you.
