February 2015 Update

It has been many weeks since my last post here. I want to take some time in this blog to update you on what is going on in my life here in the Philippines.

First the big news. Our teammate has gone home. They felt it was time to end the season here in the Philippines helping the ministry. It was sad to see them go as no one could replace all that they do here. We are slowly adjusting to their absence at this time. Currently there are two of us on staff however, we have tapped some people that have been around the ministry a while to step up and lead areas of the ministry.

Next, it has been a month of change for me. My internship period of my time here will be coming to an end soon. With that I am no longer needed to live on site. At the start of the month we found a nice little apartment just down the street. I have been living here on my on since the 1st of the month and I am enjoying it. It is relaxing to be on your own. I do need to prepare my own meals. However, today (February 16th) was the first time I actually prepared something. God had been showing up all month with random food showing up. It was truly a live by faith moment and I loved the mystery that was involved in it not knowing what I would be eating that day. Do not worry. I never went hungry.

My Spiritual walk is growing as well. Each morning I head over to the local beach/park. It is so nice to sit in the shade with a cool, fresh tropical breeze blowing in from over the ocean. I read my Bible, pray, and just listen to what God is trying to say to me or teach me. I also got plugged in at the church I attend on Sunday. Not only am I taking a leadership class, but I now have a small group. It is nice to be around other people to share things with and help each other grow.

Now, there was some fun times as well. The church had a special event planned for February 14th. It was a masquerade banquet for singles and I was told that I should go. Well, I did. To make it more interesting the night of the a couple weeks before the event I was asked if I was available to be a part of a dance presentation as they needed more guys. I gave them a yes and proceeded with being at the practice 4 times a week. It was a workout to say the least. My clothes where drenched by the end of practice. But, I had fun, I got to meet so many new people and with that got to make so many new friends. I would do it all over again if I was asked. Of course the presentation on banquet night was so nice. Doing it while in a suit and tie was better, thank you God for air conditioning. The night in a nutshell was wonderful as I was able to connect with so many people at the church. I am grateful to have many new christian friends here.

Well, thats my last few weeks in a quick recap. God is doing amazing things over here in the Philippines.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD,
And He delights in his way
Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down;
For the LORD upholds him with His hand.
(Psalms 37: 23-24)
