I remember back during my last mission trip. One of my teammates looked at me and said you are not a chicken you are a lion. I started to walk around clucking like a chicken. I don't remember how this all was started. I would guess it had something to do with not having enough courage to do something. How does this apply now? Well I will tell you. We can not let fear control us. When we have fear of the outcome of something we are acting like I was when I was clucking around the room. One of the biggest fears we have is the fear of failure, the other is rejection. Let me address this failure part first. This is not a perfect world, I wish it was but it is not. We will fail sometimes. However, it is in those failures that we learn something. Thomas Edison failed at creating a lightbulb 1000 times. It did not keep him from trying again. Charles Kettering once said, "Failing is one of the greatest arts in the world. One fails toward success." We should not fear failure for it is a part of living.
Our next fear is rejection. Okay, I have been here before. I went through school being rejected by people, I have even been to churches with the same issue. We want people to accept us for who we are. We are afraid to be ourselves because we fear what others may think about us. What I have learned is that it doesn't matter what other people think about you. All that matters is what our God thinks of you. When He created us in the womb He was pleased with us. Yes, God is pleased in who you are and was pleased with you even before you were born. He created you the way you are to fulfill a purpose on this earth. So, be who God created you to be. We do not need to be walking around clucking like chickens because we have a lack of courage or boldness. God created me to be me. I am like a lion with courage and boldness. I will step forward knowing that my God is with me. So go forth now with the courage of the lion. Do not be afraid for God is with you. Be bold in what you do. And finally, don't forget to ROAR!!!!!
