Dear Friends and Family, I first want to send each and everyone of you a large thank you. You all have had a major impact on what I am doing today. From your prayers, to your support of me on the world race or with Heart For The Philippines, to helping me with dental work and reading my blogs each and everyone of you have been important to me. I can not thank you enough for your faithfulness in God's work. As many of you know I am planing to head to the Philippines as a full time missionary to help rescue people from human trafficking. Let me take a moment to share with you about human trafficking. Human trafficking is more than just sex slavery, it also includes forcing children to serve in the military, forcing men, women and children to work long hours with little or no pay in dangerous working environments at times far away from homes. Many of them working in foreign countries with their passports stolen from them under the threat of violence to themselves of their families back home. They could be serving as maids in people's homes, working in the construction industry, in manufacturing or even aboard fishing vessels at seas. Estimates say that there are over 29 million people enslaved in the world today. The Philippines is a source and destination country for trafficking in Southeast Asia. Because of the recent earthquakes and typhoons effecting the country many people are at risk of being trafficked along with those living in the areas currently experiencing uprisings against the Filipino government. Domestically, equally boys and girls, children, are being sold into the sex trade. Women also find themselves being sold into the sex trade within the Philippines. As many as 300, 000 women and children are trafficked internally. Many found within the tourist towns of Manila, Angles City, Cebu and more. Women are also exposed to being trafficked overseas mainly to other areas of Southeast Asia in either the sex trade or serving in homes as maids. Men also fall victim of trafficking, they either find themselves working aboard fishing vessels or moved to the Middle East to help with construction. These people are ticked and forced into going places against their will and help there with the treat of violence.
This is where God has called me to go. To rescue those that need rescue. To set the captives free. To meet with those at risk of trafficking with the goal of keeping them free and unaffected but the horrors of the modern day slave trade. However, I can not do this alone. Much like the disciples and other missionaries in The Bible and missionaries of the past, I need other followers of Christ to partner with me in ministry. Here is how you can help. 1: Share If you can, share this email with people you know. Your family, friends, people you go to church with, people you work with. The more people that know of the injustice of human trafficking the more we can do something to end it. 2: Pray Prayer is one of the most important tools we as Christians have. We are asked to pray without ceasing in the Bible. Please pray for the ministry as a whole and myself. But let us also pray for those that are currently enslaved in human trafficking all over the world, let us pray that others will step out and do something to set free the captives. Let us also pray for the captors that God will change their hearts so that they no longer want to sell people. 3: Give The current budget to spend 2 years in the Philippines learning how to run a safe house, reaching out to the people in need, and setting the captives free is $833 a month. This covers all expenses getting to and from the Philippines along with living expenses while staying in country. I pray that as God leads you to give that you will no matter how small it may be. God looks at the heart of the giver, not the amount. Every gift given helps someone else in need. And I do know that all the work that God will do in me, you will receive the blessing for. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I pray that it has touched your heart. If you feel lead to give, the fastest way to do so is online thru my home office.
