When I did the world race, there was something we said to each other when we were having a bad day. It was, “put your positive pants on.” Other than making you laugh at times it was a quick reminder to look at the good in the situation. In the last few weeks I had to remind myself of this again. I like to look at each day as a blessing as something to enjoy. I was talking to one of my co-workers one day and he asked when you are down what can you do to make yourself happy. I told him the story of the positive pants. Got him to laugh so much, later in the day he came back by and had to ask again what I said to make his day better. It truly is a good saying. The next day as I was complaining about something I had to take a moment to remind myself about my positive pants.
It is so easy to focus on the negative things or the things we don’t have. We lose sight of what we do have. The other week I was helping at a youth for Christ and we were talking about how we as Americans expect the lights to turn on when we flip the switch, we need to have the latest and greatest technology and that we do not have much reliance on God. There are places all over the world, some of which I have traveled to that electricity is a luxury. If it goes out for a few days oh well. Were church is not just someplace you go to on a Sunday morning, it is an essential part of your lifestyle. The next time you find yourself complaining about not having internet, or the power going out, or even long lines at the store, just put on your positive pants. Be thankful for what you have and use the situation to make someone else's day much better. Your thankfulness could lead someone to Jesus and change a persons life forever.
