And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. (Genesis 2:2 NKJV) Finding a time to rest is very hard in our lives. However, it is very important to rest. I am not just talking about getting a good nights sleep every night either. I mean truly finding a day just to relax and allow yourself to be refreshed. Last week I just hit a wall. I had no more energy left in me. I had spent a great deal of time daily serving other people and not taking time for myself. I was at a point that I didn't feel anything, couldn't think much, and just was not motivated to do much else. When Saturday came around, I had found a way for me to step away from what I was doing and just be myself.
I was in a place to allow myself to let things go. Spent some time watching some TV shows, having fun with my parents dog, and generally just taking things slow. I was able to be physically refreshed, and within that also received spiritual refreshing. The Holy Spirit was able to work better in me after my time of rest. I am very thankful that I have had this chance to learn this while at home. This is something that I will take with me when I head on over to the Philippines. I see how far I can go before I am no longer effective in serving those around me. I see why on the World Race, they made us take one day off of ministry a week. I see what I need to do in myself to help those around me. From taking a day to pull back a little to even going for my daily walks or even bike rides. The more I take care of who I am and making sure I am healthy in all areas of life, the more I am able to pour out of myself and into the lives of those around me and be that light of Jesus to this world.
